Kubb in school lessons
Kubb is no more dangerous than other sports in school lessons.
One Kubb game per 2 teams is optimal. A maximum of one Kubb game for 4 teams, then there are longer waiting times, so the individual games must be played with a shorter time.
Rules of conduct in Kubb lessons
As with all throwing sports, it is important to pay attention to certain rules and to insist on compliance with the Kubb. Kubb is usually played with wooden elements. If these are not used properly, this can lead to injuries.
- The throwing sticks may only be thrown from below with a swinging motion of the arm. Not over the head like e.g. when javelin throwing or basketball.
- It may only be thrown at the Kubb. No one may stand on the kubb field when throwing sticks or kubb. As a precaution, an area of at least 2 meters around the cubicle field must be left free. Throwing sticks and kubb can land outside the field.
- Players have to keep their distance when throwing fellow players and should not stand directly behind the throwing child. - Throwing sticks and kubb are only collected after all throwing sticks have been thrown.
- Only after all Kubb have been thrown in, players may enter the field to set up.
- Players and spectators should not stand with their backs to the game, but watch the progress and not be directly behind the throwing direction.
- Kubb is made of wood, the elements are not suitable for fencing, kicking, carving etc. and can get splinters. In this respect, the game elements must be handled with care and these must be checked before use. - Kubb should be played on grass or sand in class, not on concrete, wood, or "rubber" floors.
Kubb exercises for physical education
Please note the navigation aids on the right, these lead to exercises etc.
Kubb in physical education
How can Kubb lessons look practical in school, here are some examples
Kubb interdisciplinary
Of course, the financing of new "sports equipment" also plays an important role in school lessons.
Kubb games are not very expensive in terms of the number of players. Teams consist of up to 6 players. 2 teams need a Kubb game. There is one Kubb game for every 12 children.
The prices of a Kubb game should be estimated at around 40 euros. Kubb is a young trend sport. Some Kubb producers are certainly willing to make special pricing arrangements so that Kubb is also offered in school lessons.
Kubb as a school project
If available, Kubb also offers the possibility of internal school projects.
A Kubb game is relatively easy to make yourself (Kubb building instructions).
Kubb im Werkunterricht
The Kubb production can therefore also take place within the framework of a work instruction / creative work / works / work apprenticeship / work theory.
Here you can quickly learn the basics of woodworking and get to know wood as an art and building element
From the simple saw to the lathe, from emery paper to the belt sander, depending on the level of expertise and equipment of the school, the simplest tool can be used to make Kubbgame.
Wood is used, so the material costs are kept within limits. There are also no special requirements for wood, almost any wood can be used.

Kubb in art class
A design of the wooden Kubb games is not necessary.
Kubb games can also be designed as part of art lessons / painting. A Kubb game consists of 10 Kubb and 1 King, throwing sticks (need not) and Field delimiters can also be decorated.
Various techniques such as wood painting, carving, glazing, etc. can be demonstrated during the lesson.
You can choose from free design to precise specifications. Each element can be designed individually or all Kubb and the king make a total work of art.
This in turn results in cost savings, because the Kubb game is not only available for physical education, but also for art lessons as basic material.
General grades
It also does not have to be carried out by a class or within a class level.
Just as a Kubb game can be used in all grades, the individual elements can also be created separately.
School presentation
In the context of a school presentation (open school day, school festivals, local newspaper reports, advertisement of new pupils (parents)) such comprehensive projects made of natural substances which are at the same time sensibly used in everyday school life make a good impression.
If a large number of games are produced, they are also suitable as raffle prizes at school parties etc.
Long term project
A Kubb game is of course worn out at some point. There are splinters and dents. The color of the wood or the paint is unsightly. However, this shows the advantage of wood.
As part of the work, the Kubb game can be sanded smooth for further use or "cut to size".
At the same time, the differences between different types of wood can also be shown in the context of material science if different wood was used to manufacture several Kubb games.
As part of the painting class, e.g. the restoration is clarified and the painting is restored or the techniques of repainting or redesign are tried out.
This Kubb game can also be advantageously presented as a project in presentations.
The old Kubb game is now available in a new shine for physical education.
Geschlechter Unterschied
Problem: Warum können Mädchen nicht Werfen? Beim Kubbspiel kann der Geschlechterunterschied beim Werfen weg trainiert werden.
