Questions and explanations about the Kubbwiki Champions[modifica]
Is there a formula for the calculation or is the secret?[modifica]
The formula is very simple: Basic value + number of teams entered - place of the corresponding team = points of the team
Example: 40 + 20 registered teams - place 10 = 50 champion points for the team
Why does a tournament get so many points automatically?[modifica]
Now organizers are not obliged to enter their tournament results immediately into the Kubbwiki. So it can happen that a team, which lands on place 10, can enter its place and perhaps of some other teams, but not complete list. The calculation function could lead to a negative result without a high basic value (see formula).
Example: 3 registered teams - place 10 = -7 points
The registering team would get minus points, this should be avoided by a high basic value.
Why do national championships get 2 * points?[modifica]
Because two tournaments are played in one go.
This should also serve the further development of the Kubb as a tournament sport. a) It should become more interesting for top teams to compete at national championships in their home country. b) Pure regional teams should be strengthened, as their performance against international teams at a tournament will be appreciated. c) It is a simplification for the tournament organizer because they can also embed national championships in existing tournaments.
Should Kubb continue to develop in this way, we assume that in the future the state championships will be played out individually in each federal state.
Why is there no tournament factor for the tournaments?[modifica]
So why is an international tournament equivalent to a regional tournament?
Questions to the contrary: Why should there be a difference between national and international tournaments? Does a tournament become better if a team from Basel (Switzerland) and one from Lörrach (Germany) (distance 1 meter) are present? From how many nations does a tournament become international? The same applies to the question, should there be an extra factor if a top 10 team is playing or if it is a traditional tournament?
Now you could do anything and you will certainly find suitable arguments for or against it. At the same time there is always an argument or displeasure associated with this when tournaments are classified.
The points should be awarded as simply and neutrally as possible, this system is simple!
Why doesn't the tournament winner get extra points?[modifica]
In some ranking systems, the first places or the tournament winner receive significantly more points than the following teams. This system is not used here. In our opinion, the tournament winner is only one place better than the second of the tournament, just like the team from place 30 to place 31. Why should the first player get significantly more points for the second? A place difference in the final result, no matter at which position in the tournament result, is only worth one point for us.
If many teams are playing (e.g. 50 teams), then there is a clear difference in points between the 1 (89 CP) and the team on place 50 (40 CP).
Why are there no points for individual games, like the Americans do?[modifica]
Could be done in principle, even if it is associated with a higher effort in terms of programming. Only those who take part and register?
It's difficult to get the final results in the multitude of tournaments and it's a lot of work to enter them all the time, because many organizers don't do it themselves yet.
To receive all individual games from the organizers and to enter them here simply exceeds the personnel possibilities at the moment.
Why do you hardly find single players from Switzerland etc. in the champion lists?[modifica]
In some countries players with alias names appear in tournaments and then only these names ("The King", "Rubber Duck" etc.) are listed in the results list of the tournament. For single players we only work with real names, because we want to honour the player who achieved the success and not a walking ghost alias "The Phantom". This is also part of our effort to ensure that Kubb is widely recognized as a sport. For this reason such tournaments are no longer provided with champion points.
== Can I enter the real name here instead of the alias name from the tournament to be judged?
Yes, just enter your real name. You will then also receive your CP for the single player tournament. The CPs will be taken into account in the champion list and the Hall of Fame of the best players. Please do not enter the alias names of the other players (see above).
Why aren't the individual players of the teams evaluated? Many players change teams all the time![modifica]
That's what you can do when you're evaluating a lot of time, only a handful of tournaments and only a few teams at a time. We have become too big for this and there are many helpers missing to manage such a thing RIGHTly.
Why is there no EOL calculation in Kubbwiki?[modifica]
- Because we are not informed about the results of individual matches in the tournament.
- Because we do not know the chronological order of individual matches in the tournament.
- Because we do not necessarily receive tournament results in a timely manner.
If we had everything, we wouldn't have the staff to control and check the system. Because it is very important, whether the no. 1 of the EOL-list loses first against the no. 10 and then against the no. 100 or first against the no. 100 and then against the no. 10. See also dewiki:Elo-Number]
Why do small tournaments have more points than big tournaments?[modifica]
It doesn't matter how big the tournament was in theory. For the Kubbwiki it is important how many teams with places are actually registered with us. If we only get the first 4 places from a big tournament, the tournament only has a value of 44 champion points. If a small tournament enters all 16 places, then it has a value of 56 points.
All places must be entered at the same time[modifica]
No, the points are recalculated with each entry. The order in which teams and places are entered is also irrelevant. However, it can take some time until the calculation in all tables etc. is taken over.
We play under different Kubb team names, can you summarize the champion points?[modifica]
No.
Our Kubb team name has been misspelled or abbreviated, how do we get our CP?[modifica]
Corrects the team name even in the tournament entry so that it is identical with the name entered in the Kubbwiki. The points will then be credited to the correct team name after a while!
The organizer enters only the first 4 teams / Kubb players. How do I get my CP for my place?[modifica]
Write down the final result of the tournament yourself and enter the teams and the placings yourself here. Many organizers are happy about the help and provide the data even later (if they are still available) Then you get more CP for your own place in the Kubbwiki credited. Even if you enter here only your own place it is worth it for you.
Is there an internal documentation of the calculation data?[modifica]
Yes, for domestic use under Dokument_Championspoint and Dokument_TurnierCP
Questions about the Hall of Fame[modifica]
Who comes to the Hall of Fame?[modifica]
Any team that has earned a certain number of champion points will be included in the reverb.
How many Champions Points do I need for the Hall of Fame?[modifica]
Since this function is currently only based on a mathematical calculation and we do not simply want to have a complete list of all teams, the values change from time to time. The base value corresponds to the score of 300 in the International Hall of Fame.
In the national halls of fame, the CP value can be significantly lower.
Why do I have so few points in the list of my country?[modifica]
For the national classification, only matches acquired by a team in tournaments in its home country will be counted. For the international classification the home tournaments as well as the played tournaments abroad are listed.
Questions and explanations about the Kubbwiki Champions game count[modifica]
Which games are counted?[modifica]
We do not count the individual games a team has played in its life. We only count the number of games that a team has played in a tournament, not the actual number of games.
